I'm familiar ...Ah, a woman after my own heart. I'm familiar with so many <i>NOTs</i>. They follow me like a puppy.<br /><br />While my parents didn't garden, my mother, too, made mean pickles, including from watermelon rinds. Makes me smile to know your mother was doing the same thing.<br /><br />I ♥ it that you have your dad's crock to display. Truly an earthly treasure to enjoy for a time. Dad made real sauerkraut (a medical miracle) and occasionally berry wine (used the same 5 gallon NY state crock for both - one I have proudly displayed in front of my fireplace. the only thing I put in it is the pocket change that accumulates everywhere.)<br /><br />You would think with that background I'd be a great gardner huh?
