Polar Bear Update

Ruger kept showing up with eggs.  He has such a huge head, and he's such a galoomph, it seemed sorta cute when he'd prance up with a colorful orb in his mouth.  With a hand beneath his face, "Ruger, Ruger, spit that out.  Drop, Ruger."  This had been going on for several days, when Charles commented, "You know, if he ever breaks one of those and finds out what he has, he won't be bringing them to you any more."  The very next evening, there were zero eggs in the coop.  Same thing the next day.  The third day, he had the cliche egg on his face.  We don't yet have a perfect remedy for this problem, but we're working on it.

"Has Ruger been in the coop?"
"I don't think so."
"He's licking his lips!  He's licking his lips!"

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.  ~Proverbs 6:16-19

Incoming - Willow's Plum

Happy 1st Birthday
to
Gran Willow's little SugarPlum

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord.  ~Psalm 127:3a

BushNot Progress

This poor bushnot needs a subject tag of its own.

On April 23rd, I noticed it was beginning to sprout.  That would be the scrawny little shoots looking like anemic asparagus.

It's nigh-on as ugly as Cousin Annie's pansies.  Oops, 'xcuse me.

While it annually arises in a fairly well defined circle, this year some sprouts appeared beyond its usual confinement.  The bushnot that ate the island.

On May 7th, exactly two weeks later, it looked like this:

I think we could ring it with lawn chairs and watch it grow.  You can be sure you'll be seeing it again.  If my memory serves me (yeah, right), it'll reach its summer splendor sometime in June.  That would be if the CowNots stop escaping their meadow and munching on it, as they did yesterday.  Better the bushnot than the vegetable garden, which is where we found them earlier in the week.  Waaaaa.

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.  ~Psalm 119:18

Fix It...Or Not

"When you have a time most convenient for you, could you mend this?" asked Son4.

He's so polite.  Isn't he polite?  So I gazed at the 3-corner tear for a moment, said somewhat haltingly, "Um...yeah...," then guided my eyes over the heap of fabric in his hands, opened my mouth, and was about to ask if that was just one of his older brothers' cast off t-shirts he sleeps in, because if it was, I was going to suggest simply tossing it into the wastebasket.  That wad in his hands was looking pretty mangy.

Before I could speak, though, he'd unbundled the wad, turned it around, and held up the front for me to see, as he said, "Ruger did it.  It's a good thing you bought me two of these, huh?"

Ohhh, that shirt (those shirts).  Indeed.  Sometimes it pays to have fluff for brains and love a bargain.  SugarPlum also has two matching, adorable, discounted dresses, because Nana thought they were awfully cute on the clearance rack ... twice.

I'll see if I can get the dogdirt out of the shirt first.  [Or would that be out of the first shirt; it may be dirt in the second shirt — first get the dogdirt out of the second shirt?]  Then we'll decide whether or not to mend it.  That Ruger!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  ~II Corinthians 5:17

Census GPS-Tagging Your Home's Front Door
Coordinates being taken for every residence in nation

"...According to the Census Bureau's website, the GPS technology 'allows us to reduce the amount of time spent by census workers in locating addresses. … Most importantly, by adding a GPS coordinate to each housing unit, the Census Bureau is able to ensure that residents are counted in the right location.'"  [read more]

This WND article cites a cost of $700 million tax dollars for the hire of "census workers" to establish these GPS coordinates in advance of the actual, constitutional census taking in 2010.  This is to save later census workers time and trouble?  Sounds like doubletalk doubletime to me.  Even if there was no cause for concern over having one's front door GPS painted by the federal government, why pay canvasing crews twice?  Hello.  Would the waste of taxpayer dollars was the gravest concern.

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.  ~Psalm 62:8
