Baaad

setting the scene

This is where the CowNots belong:

Lest there be any photographic perspective confusion, allow me to explain that I'm standing near the back of the house, and between me and the CowNot fence lie -- in order -- the driveway, driveway island, 'nother driveway, barn, garden, and pond. The CowNots belong waaay over there, beneath the arrow and beyond the silo.

When I'm in the house, I should not be able to hear, "Baaaaaa."

The CowNots do not belong here:

Why are there only three, though?
When they escape, they usually do it en masse.
Oh:

Uh-Oh:

CowNots do not belong here.
For you city dwellers, there is no such thing as a CowNot coop:

Move'em out.

Well, push harder.

Paparazzo (aka HelpfulNot Hannah) finally went for cookies.

Goatherder doesn't realize they lost the cookie trail:

So I'm stuck with this:

My mood wasn't enhanced by Willie's persistent snotting on me: *phfooomph* That's a rather indelicate thing to be saying, but the fact is that he was following me around and repeatedly snotting on my bare legs and toes (*phfooomph*), and it just wasn't a delicate experience. It was nasty, and you might as well know it. *phfooomph* So I was actually thankful when they started thinkin' about chicken feed again:

"Come help me open this door!"

CowNots do not belong here:

I finally chased them with the lawn tractor.
Three times that day.
[And a big, ol' *phfooomph* to you, Willie.]

Baaad CowNots.

Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. ~Jeremiah 10:6-8

And where are the pictures of you chasing them on the lawn tractor?! Ü

Oh my gosh! You got a piture of a Blur-Man trying to eat a goat!

Did you even see him when you took the picture, or only notice him afterwards?

They're mighty elusive!

The local Kaw Indian name for them is "Mooft-wenyatook-da-pikshur" (one whose head itches when frustrated).

Definitely one for the Cryptozoology files.

Well now, dear Annie, the final photo was taken from my perch on the tractor, with my foot on the brake, and that's about the best I can do. My skirt that day wasn't so very longish or full, so even driving the tractor was a trick involving one hand on the wheel and the other tugging on my clothes for modesty's sake. No one even knows(/knew) this arrangement nearly caused me to ram into a wood fence at speed 5. *shudder* Son3 was mending fences -- which is, I later learned, why he'd disappeared -- and Son4 was engaged in some class other than animal husbandry.

If you need a photo of me chasing CowNots, pack your camera and DH and come on down. Word to the wise: If you don't want Willie snotting on your bare legs, pack defensively.

Hilarious!!! I personally sometimes do not like cownots...I had some when I was 11, and boy howdy there were some times that I could just spit, they made me so mad with the things they did. I'm glad you finally were able to chase them down and herd them with your "horsenot". Funny, funny post.
