God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. ~Psalm 46:1-3

Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. ~Psalm 33:20-22

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 8:35, 38, 39

At the memorial service on September 14, 2001, President George W. Bush quoted Romans Chapter 8, verses 38 and 39, but he stopped short of completing the passage, closing with, "...shall be able to separate us from the love of God."

My eyes widened, my heart sank, for I knew what had been omitted: "...shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him [Christ Jesus] , and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ~Philippians 2:9-11

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ~Romans 14:11 [shall: Now or later; timing is everything and eternally binding, because in the very end, bowing shall not be optional. Loving, yes. Bowing, no.]

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ~John 14:6
