Poor Little Grape Tree

Remember this photo from early April?

On that day, I also chose this Scripture:

Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.  Jeremiah 33:2-3

"...I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."  Indeed.  I certainly didn't know this could happen:

Of course, it's not a grape tree.  It's a pitiable plum tree, so heavily laden with fruits that it even shed one branch in a recent storm.  Tell me these don't put you in mind of grape bunches, though:

I've never seen so many plums on a tree in my life, and I'll be hunting recipes incorporating them, because these will be ripe in a couple of weeks.  This is a plum crazy year!

My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.  O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.  Psalm 34:3, 4

Goodness, that's a LOT of plums! I don't think I've ever seen a plum three, so I don't know it that's normal, but - WOW!

Actually -- now that I think about it -- the only plum trees I've seen are the ones here, so I don't have a large frame of reference, myself. I can tell you we've never before seen such a bounty on our trees and have realized now we should have pruned last fall, so we wouldn't lose any branches. Hmm. Prune a plum tree. That sounds fitting.

I did find some more recipes yesterday, a jam which incorporates the skins topping the list of trials I'll run, Lord willing. I'm mentally prepared for the harvest, while the body is setting up a so-like-me, premature whine: Waaaa. :o/

Why, thank you. That's very kind. Ü

They DO resemble bunches of grapes! Man, that little tree is laden heavily! Have you tried the recipe with the skins yet? That sure sounds like less work for your whine. ;)
HA!HA! "Prune a plum tree" :)

Tomatoes and purple plums are my current plight. I spent the whole day today pretending I couldn't see them; doesn't everyone knit in the summer? La-la.

Then I went to W*M for new lids and rings for wide mouth jars I acquired a few weeks ago from someone selling them used. If I'd known the jars were stored outdoors and contained shed dirt and 'piders, I wouldn't have made the trip to buy them. *shudder* Couldn't very well say Ew and walk away, so I bought them, walked away, then said Ew. Kinda makes ya hungry for jam, doesn't it? NOT!

Actually, they'll probably now be the most sterile containers I've ever used, because I've done everything but soak 'em in bleach. With lids and rings, now I'll have to notice the piles of fruit in the kitchen. :o/
