Ice Skating

The country folk went to the big city and were treated to ice skating at Belmar in Denver.

Charles and I hovered near the heaters, sipping hot chocolate while the younger set carved their marks in the ice:
We could barely believe our eyes, when Son3 took to the ice for the first time in his life and promptly provided an impressive show of repeatedly gliding across the rink, then spinning like a pro. Only when he left the ice did we learn these weren't intentional maneuvers; his left skated-foot had a mind of its own, and he had no idea when or how often that foot was going to give him a spin. It looks like Son3 is preparing to do one of those fancy turns:
Son3 resting between magical spins:
We couldn't tell if Son4 was practicing his form for Olympic speed skating or about to kiss the ice. He spent much of the evening in this posture:
When OAO Daughter and her little brother, Son2, took ice skating lessons, Son2 quickly passed through two levels, earning patches for each. We had to pay for a second round of lessons for Little Loo, and if I was a swearing woman, I'd swear the instructors took pity on her and fudged on the report of her acquired skills, in order to finally present her with her Basic - Level I patch at the close of the second session. She married a man who can skate and clings to him for dear life:

Swept off her feet by the man who can keep her on her feet. Perfect!

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. ~Jude 1:24, 25
