About 12 years and two weeks ago, my obstetrician said in a hushed tone, "Someone better be praying bigtime for this baby." Realizing how discouraging her somber pronouncement had seemed, she soon said cheerfully, "I'm really looking forward to spanking him!" A couple of weeks later, she was as joyful as we to welcome a healthy little boy into the world and forgot all about her desire to smack the kid. I worked hard for this one. Oh baby, has he ever been worth it!
