Favorite Things - Cup

I was sitting on the deck, mentally showering affection on my cup, when I thought to create a new category of blogposts: Favorite Things. It's not that I think anyone is achin' all over to discover what my earthly treasures are, but more a matter of recognizing all the little things for which I'm thankful. Okay, it's also about amusing myself with consideration of tiny bits and pieces which enrich my life. [Be glad of it, because the only other blogpost swirling in my mind is one listing all the movements of shadow governments in these apocalyptic times and a reminder to choose this day who you will serve -- "behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" -- which is of infinitely greater import but best left to men, preaching the pure Word of God.]

This cup. Oh my, you shan't begin with this cup, because you know it's not the most important bit. Your Bible. You shouldn't give your Bible even second billing. But I decided to be keepin' it honest here, so you'll meet my cup first, because it birthed the idea.

When I first spied these on the shelf at the store, I wanted them so badly and probably made a goose of myself, exclaiming over the wonder of them. At a price of well over $2 for a package of 14, I told myself no. Now, that's going to sound like I'm all about impeccably good stewardship, but that's not the case at all. Would that it was. Instead, there just seem to be some areas in which the waste-not bells and whistles sound with abandon, and at other times, I'm ever so deaf.

Yet during the very next shopping trip -- about 8 months ago now -- when I found myself on the paper goods aisle, I had to have that package of cups. And I'm glad. I've shared them with traveling guests, used some myself, and this is the final cup from that package. (An unopened package is waiting in the cupboard, lest I find myself in need of and wanting another.)

Isn't that just the best? Is there such a term as felted styrofoam? If not, we're making it up, because this cup is made of felted styrofoam and has the most pleasing grip. I'm not normally smitten with this style of graphic art, but for some reason, it appeals to me on the cup. And the lid? That lid is great. It's the nuts in brownies, the spritz of perfume after a shower, the curtains on a window. And in my world, the sipping hole must be centered with the graphic when snapped in place. This cup is a delight.

My cup -- one of my favorite things.

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:20) My cup runneth over. (Psalm 23:5)

As soon as I read the headline, I knew WHAT cup you were going to write about. It IS a great cup. Great for toting that second cuppa to W*M or the art show. :o)

I forwarded a link to this blog post along with the comments and your mailing address to Dixie. I asked them to send you "coupons or something." I'm hoping they'll send you a lifetime supply of the cups, but assume they wouldn't want to lose their best customer. Anyway, they'll probably post it on the office bulletin board, so you'll be providing some water cooler grins in Dixie Land (which, incidentally, *is* in Georgia). I thought they should know that their jobs in the paper foodservice industry bring so much joy into the world.
